La parola occorre solo nel papiro citato, un inventario di oggetti in cui sono menzionati anche contenitori per bottiglie (κελλάρια) di diversa capienza; ciascuno è accompagnato dall’aggettivo che indica, in base agli scomparti, quanti flaconi o bottiglie ogni contenitore poteva ospitare (διλάγυνος, «per due bottiglie»; τετραλάγυνος, «per quattro bottiglie»). Il termine è usato sicuramente come aggettivo a r. 11, in cui accompagna il sostantivo κελλάριον («an empty cabinet for four bottles»). Diversamente a r. 10, nel sintagma τετραλάγυνον κενόν, in cui non si associa a un altro termine, sembra essere usato con valore sostantivato (a meno che non lo si riferisca a un κελλάριον sottinteso).

Il termine è registrato in WB Suppl. 2 come sostantivo, s.v. τετραλάγυνον. Su questa parola, v. PWisc. I 30, comm. a r. 10; cf. anche I.
